QS 2023 rating: French universities are advancing on the head of PSL

A new edition of the QS ranking of the best universities in the world has been published. A total of 32 French universities appear in the global rankings under the leadership of the Université PSL and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris, which remain in the top 50.

French universities continue to rise in international rankings. The PSL University (Paris Sciences & Lettres) is in 26th place in the new QS 2023 university ranking. With an increase of 18 places, PSL maintains its position as the leading French university in the ranking. This is followed by the Polytechnique de Paris (IP Paris), which ranks 48th in the world, followed by the Sorbonne University (60th) and the Paris-Saclay University (69th).

In all, 32 French universities appear in the global ranking of the best universities in the world.

The QS assessment is based on six criteria (see box). PSL University excels in providing students with access to professors and tutors with a very good student-staff ratio. It has the highest ratio of teachers / students in France.

The Polytechnic Institute of Paris appears as the most renowned institution in the country among employers, according to the QS Employer Reputation Survey. MIT remains at the top of QS 2023

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) remains for the 11th time in a row at the top of the rankings, followed by the University of Cambridge, which is rising in the rankings. Stanford University completes the podium.

The best university in Europe is in Switzerland: it is the ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) in ninth place (-1 place).
