College students in North Kivu are getting ready for the assessments

About 250 schools that have subscribed to the Vodaeduc scholarship in North Kivu are preparing themselves and their students for tests organized by the Vodacom Foundation to support the quality of education in the region.

From Tuesday, June 28, and Wednesday, June 29, 2022, students from this part of the country, which includes the cities of Goma, Beni, and Butembo, will have to compete to receive the Vodaeduc scholarship. Everyone is encouraged to practice on this educational content-rich platform to maximize their chances of success.

Vodaeduc is a free digital platform offering quality content for students and teachers. It was designed to support the quality of education in the DRC. Watereduc, which is available anywhere in the country, contains national and international content that allows teachers to document themselves and students’ practice in order to improve their performance at school. The Vodacom Foundation has launched the Vodaeduc scholarship to support schools and students. The prize for this first edition will be to provide digital classes to the best schools in the country and offer scholarships to the best students worth 600,000 Congolese francs or 300 US dollars.

They are entitled to a scholarship:

State and private schools with valid ministerial regulation

Pupils in primary 1st to secondary 5th year of Congolese nationality, who gained at least 70% when transferring to the current upper class.

The Vodaeduc Scholarship is one of 5 major projects of the first Vodacom Foundation project in favor of North Kivu.

In order to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants of this region in the field of education, health, well-being and inclusion, the Vodacom Foundation launched the following projects on 12 April:

Construction of shelters for the victims of Nyiragongo volcano in North Kivu: work is underway to provide more dignified shelters for the victims of Nyiragongo volcano.

Creating three digital classes across the region:

In cooperation with the Bakambu Foundation, the Vodacom Foundation is installing two digital classrooms in the following schools: Mwanga Institute in Goma and Kimbali Institute in Butembe;

To celebrate Vodacom’s 20th anniversary in the DRC, staff pledged to fund the installation of a digital classroom in Beni at the Bingulu Institute.

Vodaeduc Scholarship: This scholarship supports the quality of education in this part of the country by encouraging primary and secondary schoolchildren to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). This year, 100 students will use it in North Kivu.

5th year of the “Vodacom Exetat Scholarship”: 25 Exetat 2022 finalists will benefit from university scholarships.

Networking of first aid providers and short number: volunteers will be trained as first aiders in the event of an accident. Residents will be provided with a short number.

This work was launched on April 12, 2022 and is underway in North Kivu Province.

About 12 impulses from the Vodacom Foundation

On Friday, April 8, 2022, the Vodacom Foundation Congo launched its extensive annual program called “12 Heartbeats of the Vodacom Foundation.” This project aims to transform thousands of lives in the DRC through technology in 4 key sectors of the country’s social development, namely: education, health, well-being and inclusion for all!

Indeed, this campaign covers all the activities that the Vodacom Foundation will launch this year in 12 regions of the DRC for 12 months, from April 2022 to March 2023. These regions are: Kinshasa, Congo Central, North-Kivu, South Kivu, Kasaï-Oriental, Kasaï -Occidental, Bandundu, Oriental-Province, Equateur, Maniema, Katanga and Lualaba.

In the implementation of this large annual program, the Foundation will reveal each month the name of the region in which the activities will begin.
