69 digital studying options and 34 state-selected digital corporations for academics and college students in digital studying territories (TNE)

From the beginning of next school year, these solutions will be made available free of charge to teachers and their students in 12 departments of Digital Educational Areas (TNEs). They will be the subject of training to support teachers in their pedagogical use.

The selected solutions will be presented during the event “Digital Education and EdTech: Collaboration and Innovation for the Success of All”, which will take place on 27 June at the General Secretariat for Investment (SGPI) in the presence of the winning companies and the press.

Acceleration and training in the use of digital education at the heart of TNE

The TNE action is funded by the SGPI as part of France’s 2030 Education and Digital Acceleration Strategy and is supported by the Ministry of National Education and Youth. It is run by the Banque des Territoires with partner communities, academies, the Project Kit and the Canopé Network. Launched in 2020, it is now deployed in 12 departments: Aisne, Val-d’Oise, Bouches-du-Rhône, Cher, Corse-du-Sud, Doubs, Finistère, Guadeloupe, Hérault, Isère, Vienne and Vosges.

This national investment of a total of EUR 200 million makes it possible to test large-scale global policies to accelerate education in digital technologies and, through them, able to respond to the need for continuity of education. It must also make it possible to combat the digital divide and inequalities in education. Four levers are mobilized for this purpose at the same time:

  • School equipment;
  • Innovative digital educational solutions for students and teachers;
  • Training of teachers based on their locally assessed needs;
  • Electronic parenting support for parents furthest from digital technologies.

The market to an unprecedented extent

The implementation of this € 25 million contract, published in September 2021, was commissioned by Réseau Canopé, a ministry operator whose mission is to train teachers throughout their careers. From the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, Réseau Canopé will make the winning educational solutions available free of charge. This provision will be added to existing training events, online and in-person, in the Ateliers Canopé third-party network for the benefit of teachers from kindergartens to secondary schools.

This market, which is a real opportunity for EdTechs and companies in the education sector, meets the need for labeling and official recognition of quality digital resources in an increasingly competitive sector, where it is sometimes difficult for teachers to find their way around. Simultaneous training in these resources guarantees their use.

Collegial implementation

Réseau Canopé received at least 108 files from 10 offered items. The whole evaluation phase was carried out with the support of the General Secretariat for Investment (SGPI), the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations (CDC), the Directorate-General for School Education (DGESCO) and the Department of Digital Education (DNE). The files were analyzed according to advanced educational, ergonomic, technical and financial criteria. The Decisive Advisory Committee then met on 23 March 2022 to conclude the allocation phase.

It is chaired by Réseau Canopé and consists of 9 members of the educational community (trainers, teachers, managers) and 11 representatives of the National School Inspectorate, DGESCO, DNE, academic digital delegates, facility managers, etc. research. 69 solutions proposed by 34 publishers and EdTech were selected for their relevance and adequacy to the identified needs of teachers.

Discovering winning digital solutions

A new operational phase is now beginning. At https://tne.reseau-canope.fr/, primary and secondary school teachers from the 12 departments will be able to discover the solutions at their disposal, train them and use them in their daily classroom work.

The educational solutions adopted and the planned training systems will be presented at SGPI on 27 June during an event dedicated to supporting the EdTech sector in France in 2030 in favor of more effective education. It will take place in the presence of the companies and winners of the EdTech Market Resources and Education Challenges or involved in the Educapital 2 fund, as well as with the users and beneficiaries of these schemes. A press briefing will take place on this occasion. This year’s topics are: Ethics and digital moderation!

About France 2030

  • It reflects a double ambition : to sustainably transform key sectors of our economy (energy, automotive, aerospace or even space) through technological innovation and to position France not only as a player but also as a world leader tomorrow. From basic research, through the creation of an idea to the production of a new product or service, France 2030 supports the entire life cycle of innovations up to their industrialization.
  • It is unique in its size : EUR 54 billion will be reinvested to make our companies, our universities, our research organizations fully successful in transition in these strategic sectors. The challenge: to enable them to respond in a competitive way to the challenges of the environment and the attractiveness of the future world and to educate future champions in our sectors of excellence. France 2030 is defined by two cross-cutting objectives, which are to allocate 50% of its expenditure to decarbonising the economy and 50% to new players, drivers of innovation without adverse environmental costs (in the sense of the Do Not Do Significant Damage principle).
  • It will be implemented collectively : designed and deployed in consultation with economic, academic, local and European players to determine its strategic direction and key actions. Project leaders are invited to submit their file through open, demanding and competitive procedures so that they can benefit from state support.
  • It is managed by the General Secretariat for Investment on behalf of the Prime Minister and implemented by the Agency for Ecological Transformation (ADEME), the National Research Agency (ANR), the Public Investment Bank (Bpifrance) and the Banque des Territoires.
